Young actress Jade Pettyjohn (Pure Genius, School of Rock) has been cast as Laura Dern’s daughter in Trial by Fire, a fact-based drama from director Ed Zwick. Jack O’Connell also co-stars in the film, which follows Cameron Todd Willingham, a poor, uneducated heavy metal devotee who was convicted of triple homicide in the arson deaths of his three small children and spent 12 years on death row. Geoffrey Fletcher penned the script, based on the 2009 article in The New Yorker that won David Grann the Polk Award. Zwick’s Bedford Falls is producing with Flashlight Films’ Allyn Stewart & Kipp Nelson, and Alex Soros, the latter of whom is financing.

Congrats Jade!!

It’s Christmas in February! I was able to find Jade’s movie All I Want For Christmas! I’ve added screencaps from the movie to the gallery. Unfortunately, they aren’t very good quality, but are fun to look at. I’ll share clips soon. Here’s a little about the film:

When a boy’s Christmas wish of having different parents comes true, he finds himself living the extravagant lifestyle he always dreamed of… But at what cost?

Bird is mature for her age, a thoughtful sixth grader who dreams of doing the grocery shopping so that all food groups are represented, but whose emotional wisdom starts to slip when her body begins to develop. After her first period arrives in an embarrassingly public way, Bird turns to her single mother for guidance; however, her mom is a flighty stoner who finds this milestone just as befuddling as her young daughter. Already frustrated by their recent move to Echo Park from the Valley, Bird wishes everything would start making sense again.
